Friday Faves – Halloween Edition

Happy Friday!

We’re getting closer to Halloween. Can you believe it? Actually, it’s a little hard for me to believe because this past week we hit 80 degrees a couple of days. Boo! I want cool, crisp October air. πŸ™‚

Even with the slightly warmer temps, now’s a good time to start thinking about some Halloween recipes and crafts.

How about a Halloween Yarn Garland from Camille at Growing Up Gabel? The garland looks so cute and kids will love it.

To keep your crafty self busy these DIY Jack Skellington Multi-Holiday mugs are the perfect touch for snuggling up with a cup of hot cocoa. Sarah from Bombshell Bling shows you how to make a scary mug.

How about a snack on Halloween? Easy Oreo Pumpkin Pops could be the perfect treat for your little ghosts and goblins. Erin from Suburban Simplicity shares the very easy recipe.

Not looking for a snack? Then how about a drink? The Pumpkinhead Horror Movie Drink looks frightfully delicious. Liz and Chanelle from Eat Move Make share the recipe for a killer non-alcohol cocktail.

How about going a little batty this Halloween? Nina from Grandma Ideas shares the Easiest Ever Bat Craft just in time for Halloween decorating. They’re adorable!

I hope you enjoyed my Faves for this week. It’s nice to be able to take a quick break and visit some fun posts where you can pick up an idea or two.

Have a great day!

Friday Faves – Autumn Edition

Happy Friday!

It’s a pumpkin spice kind of day. The temps are a little cooler than they were last week (yay!) and the squirrels are very busy outside, I hear them scurrying through the fallen leaves. I’m ready to pull on my boots, slip into a cardigan and cozy up with a cup of soup.

Truth be told, I’ve been ready for a few weeks. I started adding my fall decorations around the house the last week in August. Maybe for some it was too soon but not for me. They make me happy and as I was preparing to give the second book in my Food Blogger Mystery series a final read through I wanted to be happy. πŸ™‚ The read through can be difficult because writers can tweak their manuscripts forever. So we look for things that make us happy and comfortable. For me, seeing a pumpkin decoration was a good thing.

Today I sent my manuscript to my agent. It’s a nerve-wracking day – sending your beloved manuscript out to the world. What I wouldn’t give for just another day to tweak. Oh, well, I don’t have another day. So I’m going to focus on something else. Like some Faves to share with you. Ready for some autumn inspiration?

Shelly from Calypso In The Country shares A Festive Fall Vignette on the Console Table with us. It’s lovely and has me wishing wehad a console table.

Angie from Angie The Freckled Rose shares a round-up of 15 Fantastic Fall Garden to Table Recipes. There are some great recipes to try and I’m particularly interested in the Whipped Cinnamon Pumpkin Butter recipe.

How about home tour? Ann from Sutton Place shares her home as a part of the Farmhouse Fall Home Tour. I love how just a few touches of the season warm up a room and create a welcoming space.

If you’re looking to get your craft on then you’ll want to check out the Easy DIY Fall Faux Floral from Jenny Marie Louise. Jenny shows us how to pull together the decoration in less than a half hour.

Some more decorating inspiration from Carol at The Red Painted Cottage. She a few tidbits from the fall home tour in A Few Sticky Pears and Other Details. I love the creamy white kitchen. And those pears! I want them.

I hope you enjoyed my Faves for this week. It’s nice to be able to take a quick break and visit some fun posts where you can pick up an idea or two.

Have a great day!

Friday Faves #8

Happy Friday!

Another week is coming to an end and the weekend is coming up fast. It’s just not any weekend because Christmas is right around corner. Today is the 9th! The 9th! Where has this month gone? I don’t mean to brag, but I got most of my shopping done. I shopped local and online and managed to avoid the mall. I think I have two more gifts to get and then it’s onto wrapping. I am a little stumped about one of the gifts I still need to purchase, I’m not sure what to get one of my friends. I’m hoping that inspiration will spark over the weekend. While I won’t be gift shopping, I’ll be running errands.

For my Friday Fave today I’m all about casual comfort while out and about. I love this outfit for running errands, meeting up with friends for a casual lunch or attending one of the many holiday events around town.

Casual December Saturday

What’s your go-to casual weekend look?

Happy Friday!

We’ve survived another week. I think a round of high-fives are in order. This week I got back to writing the first draft of the second book in my cozy series. I had to put it aside to do a final proofreading on the first manuscript so that it could be sent out for submission. That’s right, my baby has been tossed out into the big, crazy world of publishing. Since I have no control over what happens now I’m focusing on the second book. What happens happens.

Elaine Will Sparber shares her process of writing over at the Club Henhouse blog. You know, how it all begins and for every writer it’s different. We all have our own process so it’s nice to see how someone else does it.

The end of this week has me battling a cold. Ugh. So one of my faves is homemade chicken soup. Yes!

And since this cold is kicking my butt, this week’s Friday Faves is very short. But before I go let me share with you what I will be doing for the rest of the day. Reading.

Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a great week. Did your week fly by like mine did? Between the day job, the exceptionally lovely weather which means I can get the pups out more for walks and playtime, and revising the over 10,000 words I wrote over the Memorial Day weekend, the days just flew by. I did have time to do some reading and I was able to squeeze in some knitting time along with doing a little work on my counted-cross stitch sampler. I also found some great blogs and I’m going to share a few with you today.

Alina from The Gift of Knitting shared her thoughts on creativity. She posed the question of where does your creativity come from and the responses were very interesting. Her post had me thinking about where my creativity comes from and after giving it some thought the answer and the answer I came up with is that it is always present. There are times when it is quiet and other times it’s bursting at the seams so much so that I can barely contain it. Luckily that occurred when I sat down to write the outline of the second book in my mystery series. Check out the post, I think you’ll find it interesting.

With all of this lovely weather, a girl can’t help but thinking about having a picnic and over at Epicurious there’s a great post on packing the ultimate Parisian Picnic.

The countdown to Father’s Day is on. If you haven’t done your shopping you may want to check out 10 Last Minute Father’s Day Gifts from Organizing Made Fun for ideas and inspiration. There’s no time to dawdle.

Looking for a little movie history? The house from the 1991 remake of The Father of the Bride staring Steve Martin is for sale. It’s move in ready and I’m so ready to start packing.

Every 7 weeks I take Susie and Billy for a grooming appointment so you know I just had to read this article, 12 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Became a Dog Groomer. Lets just say, I’m super jealous of the dog bath that the groomer does. Talk about lucky dogs!

I hope you have a great Friday, after all it’s the best day of the week, right?
