How the Series Came to Be

This series came to life not long after I sold the Food Blogger Mystery series. About a year later, I had an idea for a fashion buyer who inherits her grandmother’s consignment shop in her hometown. A town she only visited on holidays, even though it was less than two hours from New York City.

There were a few ghosts from her past she wasn’t eager to face. But when she lost her job and learned she had inherited both a business and a place to live, she didn’t have much choice. It was time to head back to Lucky Cove.

Creating a fashionista with a knack for solving mysteries wasn’t much of a stretch for me. At least not the fashion part. Fashion has always been a love of mine. After high school, I went to fashion school and focused on buying. I like to joke that I majored in my hobby.

I landed a job at Macy’s Herald Square in the cosmetics buying office, and it was such a fun experience. I loved every minute of it and learned so much from the team I worked with.

So when the idea for the Resale Boutique Mysteries came to me, I was off and running. I pitched the series, received my first contract, and began writing Kelly’s story.

Writing Kelly was such a joy. And while the fashion and the mystery are at the heart of the series, what I loved most was watching her grow. I hope you’ll enjoy that journey just as much if you decide to read the series.
