Hello, friends, and happy Friday!
It feels like one of those weeks where a lot has been happening, but in a steady, good way. You know the kind—full days, lots of little check-ins, and plenty of time spent doing the work I love. I’m happy now to settle in with a cup of coffee and catch up with you.
I’m still very much in The Cold Case and the Corpse season, and I have to say, it’s been such a joy. Being named a Barnes & Noble Top Indie Favorite eBook for December and January is something I’m still smiling about. I’ve also been having fun connecting with readers. Last week I did a live event in the Cozy Mystery Party Facebook group (were you there? Leave a comment and let me know.), and this coming week I’ll be popping into the Cozies, Conversation, and More Facebook group for another live chat. These events always remind me how much I love the cozy mystery community and how welcoming and positive it is.
On the writing front, I’m deep into edits on the next Food Blogger mystery, which means lots of focused desk time and plenty of revisiting scenes with a critical eye. To help keep myself on schedule, I’ve been participating in Sisters in Crime write-ins, and honestly? They’ve been a game changer. There’s something about showing up with other writers, even virtually, that really keeps me on task—and it’s been a lot of fun, too.
I also finally got to share my not-so-secret anymore secret project! I announced my upcoming paranormal cozy mystery, set to release in early 2027, along with a new behind-the-scenes blog series called A Cozy Mystery in the Making. Over the coming year, I’ll be sharing bits of the process, from drafts and edits to cover design and everything in between, and it feels really good to invite readers along for the journey this early. If you haven’t seen the first post in the series, click here and you can read it.
Outside of work, things have been pleasantly low-key. Connie is absolutely thriving in this cold weather. The girl loves being outside and would happily stay there far longer than I’d prefer if I let her. Connie’s favorite toy is her bigfoot stuffed animal and I have to share a photo of her with Sammy (that’s his name). She carries that toy around the house! It’s as big as her! In the photo, she has it in her mouth and she’s wrestling with it. Too funny! I also treated myself to a new Kindle (no regrets), and aside from a dental cleaning and an oil change, life has been pretty uneventful. Sometimes those are the best weeks.

Thanks, as always, for spending a little time here with me. I hope your week had a few cozy moments tucked into it, and that the weekend ahead gives you time to rest, read, and recharge.
