Happy Friday!

FridayFavesImage3

We’ve survived another week. I think a round of high-fives are in order. This week I got back to writing the first draft of the second book in my cozy series. I had to put it aside to do a final proofreading on the first manuscript so that it could be sent out for submission. That’s right, my baby has been tossed out into the big, crazy world of publishing. Since I have no control over what happens now I’m focusing on the second book. What happens happens.

Elaine Will Sparber shares her process of writing over at the Club Henhouse blog. You know, how it all begins and for every writer it’s different. We all have our own process so it’s nice to see how someone else does it.

The end of this week has me battling a cold. Ugh. So one of my faves is homemade chicken soup. Yes!

And since this cold is kicking my butt, this week’s Friday Faves is very short. But before I go let me share with you what I will be doing for the rest of the day. Reading.

Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a great week. Did your week fly by like mine did? Between the day job, the exceptionally lovely weather which means I can get the pups out more for walks and playtime, and revising the over 10,000 words I wrote over the Memorial Day weekend, the days just flew by. I did have time to do some reading and I was able to squeeze in some knitting time along with doing a little work on my counted-cross stitch sampler. I also found some great blogs and I’m going to share a few with you today.

Alina from The Gift of Knitting shared her thoughts on creativity. She posed the question of where does your creativity come from and the responses were very interesting. Her post had me thinking about where my creativity comes from and after giving it some thought the answer and the answer I came up with is that it is always present. There are times when it is quiet and other times it’s bursting at the seams so much so that I can barely contain it. Luckily that occurred when I sat down to write the outline of the second book in my mystery series. Check out the post, I think you’ll find it interesting.

With all of this lovely weather, a girl can’t help but thinking about having a picnic and over at Epicurious there’s a great post on packing the ultimate Parisian Picnic.

The countdown to Father’s Day is on. If you haven’t done your shopping you may want to check out 10 Last Minute Father’s Day Gifts from Organizing Made Fun for ideas and inspiration. There’s no time to dawdle.

Looking for a little movie history? The house from the 1991 remake of The Father of the Bride staring Steve Martin is for sale. It’s move in ready and I’m so ready to start packing.

Every 7 weeks I take Susie and Billy for a grooming appointment so you know I just had to read this article, 12 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Became a Dog Groomer. Lets just say, I’m super jealous of the dog bath that the groomer does. Talk about lucky dogs!

I hope you have a great Friday, after all it’s the best day of the week, right?

Lemon Chiffon Layer Cake sounds heavenly, doesn’t it? Well, you have to see a photo of it. I hear angels singing, I really do. Three layers of dreamy yumminess (not sure if that’s a real word).

This is an adorable fun way to welcome spring. Cheryl shows us how to make Easy Spring Door Umbrellas. With snow coming in a couple of days this bright, cheery craft keeps me hoping that spring weather is not that far away.

I think because we’ve had a brief taste of warmer weather and in a matter of hours the temperatures will dip and snow will arrive I’m craving anything summery and this Homemade Salsa Fresca recipe is calling to me.

Have a great Friday!

We all need to take a deep breath when things get to overwhelming and here are 21 examples of drama caused by Starbucks. Reading the list makes me feel very grateful.

For writers rejections are a part of life and we’re reminded why we need to read the rejections we receive and just not trash them.

Maybe it’s because we just got back from our niece’s wedding that I have weddings on my mind and these 15 rustic wedding cakes are making me very hungry.

Go ahead and toss the scale because you now have 12 non-scale ways to measure your victories.

I can’t possibly end this Friday Faves without something a little bunnylicious. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Check out this bunny cake perfect for Easter.

Have a great Friday!

Happy Friday! We made it to the end of the week. WooHoo!!! The beginning of this week we had arctic temps followed by a snow/ice event that led temps soaring up to the 50s! Talk about a roller coaster of weather. I’m looking forward to a nice, quiet and warm weekend. How about you? Here’s a few websites you may want to visit over the weekend. Ready?

FridayFavesImage2I guess you can tell by my posts that I enjoy reading and I like to read a variety of genres. Mystery, suspense, romance, paranormal. There’s a brand new romantic suspense series with a touch of noir and a whole lot of heat (and I mean a WHOLE LOT OF HEAT) that I’m loving. The series is co-authored by two talented writers, Eve Kincaid and Lily Danes. Now I think I should mention here that Eve is my critique partner and I’ve had the pleasure of reading her new release as she was writing it. Honestly, she couldn’t write it fast enough for me. I loved it. You can get a taste of Kiss of a Stranger over at her website. She’s put up the first chapter for you to read. Enjoy!

During the week I came across a post about emails and among authors there is an on-going debate of how often emails should be sent to subscribers. That debate is usually followed by a lengthy discussion of how to get subscribers. 🙂 Dagmara, over at Glamista Home, shares some very good reasons why we should consider sending emails to our subscribers on a regular basis. When I get ready to send emails I do intend to send them on a regular basis to build a relationship. I enjoy receiving emails from the authors I enjoy reading and hopefully my subscribers will feel the same way.

Now lets talk about food. I stumbled upon Inspiralized.com and I’m hooked. Using a spiralizer looks like so much fun. And lucky for me, Kitchen Aid makes a spiralizer attachment for my stand mixer. I gotta get one. If you’re looking for a fun and healthy way to cook and eat check out Ali’s website.

What are you up to this weekend? Staying in with a good book? Or, doing a little cooking? Or, are you heading out?
